Runners of the Month 2010

Runners of the Year

Mike Wood and Karen Galpin
Congratulations to Mike Wood and Karen Galpin who were voted as Runners of the Year for 2010.
Alison Hume and James Wilkinson
Congratulations to James Wilkinson for completing the Tough Guy challenge 2 hours quicker than last year and for his recent charity marathons. Also to Alison Hume for her consistent improvement, the personal bests achieved in recent races and for her 'give it a go' attitude.
Jayne & Chris
Well done to Chris Midgely for his consistent improvement on recent race times and for his cheerful encouragement to others. Also to our new and very helpful 3/6 mile route leader, Jayne Adams, who has not only improved her own running but that of many other newcomers to the club.
Our first pair of Runners of the Month who combined endurance with compassion to raise significant amounts of money for charity in recent events: Congratulations to Mike Wood who ran the entire 103 mile Cotswold Way in less than 24 hours for Cystic Fibrosis and Anne-Marie Willicott who ran 3 consecutive marathons within 15 days for Haiti relief fund.
Our second pair of Runners of the Month who combined endurance with compassion to raise significant amounts of money for charity in recent events: Congratulations to Kim Boskett and Pete Twinning who ran the London marathon for Multiple Sclerosis.
Congratulations go this month to runners Natalie White and Robert Turner who have not only consistently improved, but have also been particularly helpful in the organisation of the Devil's Chimney race.
This month's outstanding runners are Carl Hartley, whose PB at the Frampton 10K was testament to recent focused training and Hazel Everett who made a great impression at the Gower triathlon and gained a great PB at Frampton.
This month's award goes to Hester Davis who has improved significantly over the past year or so since recovering from injury and to Ed Collier who has been working hard to improve his recent race times and contributes regularly to the web site and forum.
Dave Davey and Karen Galpin
Congratulations to Dave Davey for smashing his target of a sub 4 hour marathon with a time of 3 hours 54 minutes at Abingdon (with ample encouragement from Mark Willicott). Karen Galpin leads by example, with an outstanding year of substantial pb improvements over all distances from 1 to 30 miles, including her stunning JW Ultra run, achieving 1st lady and 6th overall. She continually supports the club as a leading committee member and encourages members to achieve higher standards.
Allan Green and KenPetersen
Long-standing member Allan Green puts the rest of us to shame by competing in his 300th marathon in Benidorm - an incredible achievement and no plans to retire any time soon! Our Faster Moderates Group Leader, Ken Petersen, does a great job with a popular and expanding group and has worked hard to reduce his recent race times significantly. Well done Ken!
