Wolverhampton Half Marathon Race Report

by Anthony Bailey

After last years race which I was 17th in 1:21:11, the target for this years race was to average 6:04 miles a sub 1:20 half marathon. A group of 5 of us set off from gun doing 5:30 miles for the first 3 mile before settling down to our own pace. After covering the first half in 38 minutes things were looking good, but with nearly 400ft of climbing to do in the last half the early pace started to hit hard. I covered all but the last 3 miles in faster times than 2008, loosing only 26 seconds in these last few miles, which was pretty good considering how I felt. Finishing 6th overall in 1:19:23 6:02 miles. Looking forward to Stroud now, hopefully knocking a couple of minutes off that 1:19 with it being a fairly flat.
